The K-9 Unit is comprised of deputies (handlers) partnered with highly-trained canines. These specially trained dogs are bred and chosen for their intelligence and strong sense of smell. These dogs can help when pursuing fugitives, searching for missing persons, narcotics, weapons, and explosives detection. Outside funding from the community helps in the maintaining and developing the K9 unit
